Preface
Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry
Experimental measurements are the foundation of all of the natural sciences. In launching the Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry, we aim to provide in-depth and timely perspectives on the fundamental, technological, and applied aspects of measurement science. We seek to stimulate interaction and collaboration among scientists in fields as diverse as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, materials, medicine, and environment. In doing so, we hope to facilitate the acceleration of applications of novel measurement concepts, as well as to address the challenges and limitations of current measurement protocols. Such interdisciplinary discourse is essential to understanding and engaging with global challenges such as climate change, energy, and health.
For critical, thorough reviews of the rapidly developing fields that constitute modern analytical chemistry, and for thoughtful perspectives on the future directions of these fields, we contend that there is no better resource than the Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry.
We look forward to receiving feedback and suggestions from our readers, students, and colleagues. Finally—and most importantly—we extend our gratitude to each of the authors who contributed to the inaugural volume of this exciting new series.
